Jesse Eisenberg has opened up about the professional fallout following his controversial turn as Lex Luthor in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The actor admitted that winning a Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor made it nearly impossible to land major studio film roles afterward, forcing him to shift his focus toward writing and directing.
Eisenberg noted that the industry essentially dictated his career path following the award, stating, “The industry did not want me to be in a superhero movie,” and that he had to be “self-aware” enough to pivot away from roles where he wasn’t wanted. He has since found success as a filmmaker, with projects like A Real Pain and his upcoming film The Debut.
