Capcom has revealed how Tifa from Final Fantasy 7 became a surprise guest fighter in Street Fighter 6. Discussions for the crossover began roughly three years ago, with the developers citing Tifa’s martial arts background as a perfect fit for the Street Fighter franchise.
Tifa is set to join the game as a Year 4 DLC character in early 2027, featuring unique “materia-induced” gameplay mechanics. Capcom also confirmed that her design was developed in close collaboration with the Final Fantasy 7 team, including lead designer Tetsuya Nomura.
