Square Enix is bringing back true freedom in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation by letting players take full control of the Highwind. Unlike the restricted fast-travel systems of recent entries, the game allows for seamless flight and on-the-fly skydiving, enabling players to drop into its fully detailed open world at will.
The feature marks a triumphant return to the series’ roots, bridging the gap between classic overworld exploration and modern, high-fidelity environments. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is currently scheduled to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 in Q2 2027.
