Halo Studios has officially walked back their previous statement, confirming that a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required for local split-screen co-op on PS5. While players will still need individual PlayStation and Microsoft accounts, the recurring fee for local multiplayer is officially off the table.
The studio admitted their initial claim was “incorrect,” clarifying that while a subscription remains necessary for online network play, couch co-op is exempt. The game is set to launch on July 28, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
