Riot Games has officially shut down rumors that its Vanguard anti-cheat software can “brick” PCs. The speculation began after a tongue-in-cheek social media post from the developer, which showed specialized hardware used for cheating being rendered useless.
Riot clarified that while Vanguard effectively disables specific, unauthorized Direct Memory Access (DMA) cheat devices, it does not damage or disable any standard consumer PC hardware or software components. The developer emphasized that it is technically impossible for the system to “brick” a user’s computer.
