Nearly 18 months after its initial release, Civilization 7 has received significant updates—most notably the 1.4 “Test of Time” patch. While the game now offers crucial quality-of-life improvements, including better UI and more robust setup options, recent design shifts toward mimicking older titles have resulted in a frustratingly simplified, point-based victory system.

Despite these updates, the game still struggles to compete with the long-term depth of its predecessors. While it retains the signature “one more turn” allure, the recent move toward a more stripped-down design suggests the title still has a long way to go before it reaches its full potential.
