Director Brad Bird revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that his long-gestating project about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake may finally move forward as an eight-episode miniseries. Bird explained that the story’s depth made it impossible to condense into a single feature film, noting that the series would cover both the disaster and the massive fires that followed.

While no release date has been set, the project requires a major budget to achieve the scale he envisions. During the same panel, Bird confirmed he is co-writing and producing Incredibles 3, but will not be directing, and teased a new upcoming live-action project that incorporates animation.
