Heart Machine, the acclaimed studio behind Hyper Light Drifter and Possessor(s), is facing a severe financial crisis after a publisher abruptly withdrew funding for an unannounced project.
Founder Alx Preston confirmed on LinkedIn that the studio has been forced to lay off “nearly everyone” as a result. While the studio’s future remains uncertain, Preston stated that the remaining team is working to find a path forward for the developer.
