Despite the series effectively ending in 2018, The X-Files creator Chris Carter has confirmed he has a “big reveal” and a plan to continue the show’s core storyline. Carter is currently looking to revisit the cliffhanger from the Season 11 finale, though he noted that nothing has been officially greenlit yet.
Carter recently released a director’s cut of the second film, The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn, which emphasizes the franchise’s horror roots. While a separate X-Files reboot project is currently in development at Hulu under director Ryan Coogler, Carter intends to respect that project while still pushing to resolve his own long-standing narrative threads.
