Square Enix has officially confirmed that Dragon Quest 12 has been completely overhauled and restarted from scratch. The game’s original subtitle, The Flames of Fate, has been scrapped in favor of the new title: Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams.
Executive producer Yosuke Saito cited a team reshuffle and a change in direction as the reasons for the reboot, promising an experience that aims to appeal to a wider audience. While no release date was announced, the developer confirmed that the game will still feature the character designs of the late Akira Toriyama and the score of the late Koichi Sugiyama.
