PlayStation’s latest State of Play delivered a massive shock: the next installment in the hit franchise, God of War: Laufey, will officially sideline Kratos in favor of his wife, Faye. Santa Monica Studio developers are calling this move an “expansion” of the story rather than a total departure.
Creative director Cory Barlog noted that Faye has been an “anchor” for the series since 2018, and this title finally brings her into the spotlight to explore her past and future. While Kratos is known for his stoic, wall-like brutality, directors promise that Faye brings an equally lethal but more agile combat style to the game.
